O’Shaughnessy Distillery Opens

July 01, 2021 by towersideadmin

Started by cousins, Patrick and Michael O’Shaughnessy, with a vision to make whiskeys worthy of their rich Irish American heritage, O’Shaughnessy Distillery employs a distinctive approach to their art. Using the Irish-style three copper pot stills and tapping our northern waters and midwestern grains to bring a whole new genre of whiskey to life. But they didn’t just bring in any old distiller; they brought in Brian Nation, the former master distiller of Jameson, who has left Cork, Ireland for Minnesota.

It’s under cool copper lighting installations, and amid branded merchandise and bottles of their first blended whiskey, Keeper's Heart, where Nation and his crew begin proudly share their passion and goals for O’Shaughnessy.

Go, make it an outing; explore the Whiskey Lounge featuring a number of unique indoor and outdoor spaces designed to create a sophisticated yet relaxed ambience, take a tour of their state-of-the-art distillery and discover what makes Keeper’s Heart Whiskey so unique. Be ready to become a fan and newly-proclaimed whiskey nerd when you learn no two pot stills are exactly the same, and their shape and nuances are part of what gives the distillate its character. Nation believes they have a whole new genre of whiskey at O’Shaughnessy Distillery.

While it's true that as a new whiskey distillery, they won't have their own spirit ready for a few years, that's the nature of whiskey: time and wood. But they are bringing in other variously crafted whiskeys and blending them to create a flavor that comes close to what they want O'Shaughnessy to be known for.

With lots of areas to gather in their building, the upstairs Potato Bar is ideal for private events, as well as for general seating. Generous windows offer grand views creating a soothing balance between the light, brick, leather and wood. They have an outdoor deck, an outdoor container bar, and a full kitchen on site.
